base highest dps attribute + weapon, no skills
So I tried doing some searches, but i couldn't figure out the answer.
I have 2 questions:
which weapon gives the highest average dps alone?
i.e. its a req 9 weapon and you have 9 in that attribute
sword
axe
hammer
daggers
bows x4
scythe
spear
Also, more importantly, what weapon plus attribute combination gives the highest average dps without skill usage.
i.e. pretty much a warrior vs. sin dmg output question
strength 16
any wep 12-16
critical strikes 16
any wep 12-16
or if you have any other interesting tidbits about weapon dmg post em here, but i don't want to hear anything about skills.

Well for warrior weapons alone, I know axe has the highest DPS.
Daggers and Scythes are unique, because daggers can double-strike and scythes hit 3 targets... so obviously if you factor this in then scythe is the highest, and against a single target dagger is probably the highest with double-strike.

@Dbugler: You can only have one Attribute @ level 16 per class.
@Hand of Ruin: Hammer has a higher DPS than Axe.
@Topic: 16 Hammer/15 Strength has the highest DPS of all weapons.

Either way Hammer has the highest DPS, or so I recall from the thread 'Why Nuking Sucks.'

Yes, Hammer does have highest DPS.
Strength only adds armor penetration to skills.

1)Hammer
2)Scythe
3)I'm going to go with...scythe, but it might be daggers (pretty sure it's scythe, though)
Go Dervish!

What do you suppose would do more damage then, 16 Hammer or 16 Critical Strikes + 12 Hammer?

You mean 16 Hammer and 13 Strength vs 16 Crit and 12 Hammer?
... 16 Hammer ftw?
Its raw dps is amazing, it offers KD's, AND it can spike like a monster. Question answered.

The answer: Any assassin running 16 Crit and 12 Hammer is begging to be crushed like a bug. At least a warrior can wear a sup rune and still have some staying power.
If you're interested in survival, I'd suggest 14 Hammer 9-11 Strength (depending on build). Normally, 9 Strength is enough to give you a decent length on Sprint/Rush. I'd only take it higher for attack skills like Prot Strike or Bull's Strike.

Scythe 16 has the highest base DPS of all weapon 16, more so if it hits several enemies.

Hammer hits average 27 damage every 1.75 seconds; scythe hits average 25 damage every 1.75 seconds. Critical hits do about sqrt(2)*max damage, so the difference in damage by critical hits is about sqrt(2)*(41-35), which is approximately 8. This is to say that you'd have to make critical hits 25% of the time for scythe and hammer to strike even. Observation puts the percentage at around 22%, so scythe and hammer are pretty even for DPS on a single target.

Scythes win, even if you don't take into account the fact that they hit up to 2 adjacent targets - and that if the scythe [attack] crits, all 1-3 numbers will be crits. Go dervs!

If you're assuming that you're attacking only 1 target, I would have to say 16 Marksmanship and Shortbow. Scythes win out if they're attacking more than 1 guy at a time.

Shortbows have a DPM of about 1,225. Scythes have a DPM of 1,780 on a single target. (Spura underestimates damage a bit, but eh.) However, comparing weapons without skills doesn't reflect any realistic scenario.

Wrong, all of the hits are calculated separately.

Wrong. Yesterday I was trying out a D/P build with 6 command and GFTE (+48% crit chance on next hit) and used mystic/reaper's. They *always* all hit for the same number when they were crits. If you want, I can prove it.
